With the eighth edition of Fashion Positions, the Berlin-based platform once again places independent fashion within the context of art and culture.

From September 10 to 13, 2026, a total of 22 labels will present their latest collections in Hangars 5 and 6 at Tempelhof Airport as part of the POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair. The focus will not be on traditional runway shows, but rather on fashion as an artistic statement and a means of addressing social issues.

This curated exhibition views fashion as a distinct creative practice at the intersection of design, craftsmanship, material research, and cultural discourse. Rather than focusing on a particular stylistic direction, the selection highlights a variety of creative approaches—ranging from experimental uses of materials and precise craftsmanship to concepts that address personal and social themes.

Diandra Donecker and Dao Tran are once again responsible for selecting this year’s participants. From among numerous applications, the two curators selected 22 independent labels, including Esther Perbandt, Tutia Schaad, Human Touch, Plaid-à-Porter, Lithium Oak, Lilian Brade, Maqu, Stefan Uhr, and Vreni Jäckle, as well as several interdisciplinary collaborations.

The FASHION POSITIONS SHOP will once again be an integral part of the event in 2026. Visitors can purchase selected pieces directly there. The combination of a curated exhibition and the opportunity to make immediate purchases has established itself in recent years as a successful presentation and marketing model for independent designers.

This year’s edition is complemented by the special presentation “One person. One voice.” by Claudia Malecka in collaboration with Florian Müller. The photographic series is part of the “Mental Health in Fashion” initiative and focuses on the personal experiences of people in the fashion industry. The project is intended as a contribution to an open dialogue about mental health and complements the exhibition by offering a social perspective on the people behind the collections.

“Fashion doesn’t emerge in a vacuum. It brings together personal experiences, social developments, and cultural changes,” says founder Mira von der Osten. The goal of FASHION POSITIONS is to highlight fashion as a distinct form of cultural expression and to offer independent designers a platform with artistic merit.

FASHION POSITIONS was founded in 2019 by Mira von der Osten and Kristian Jarmuschek and takes place annually during Berlin Art Week in conjunction with the POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair. The event is supported by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy, and Public Enterprises.
