Innovation as a Competitive Advantage

August 27, 2026 BY Kay Plonka

Innovation as a Competitive Advantage
From September 1 to 3, 2026, Première Vision Paris will once again bring together the key players, technologies, and expertise shaping the future of the fashion and creative industries. With more than 900 international exhibitors, the trade show is increasingly positioning itself as a strategic platform for innovation, performance, and transformation across the entire value chain—rather than as a traditional sourcing event.

The 2026 edition will focus on the theme of innovation and technology. Artificial intelligence, digital product development, automation, and new materials and technologies for greater sustainability are intended to provide brands with concrete solutions to the industry’s current challenges. The spectrum ranges from leather alternatives made from food waste and mycelium-based materials to PLA fibers and recycled polyester, as well as plant-based fur alternatives. Traceability, the Digital Product Passport, and circularity also play a central role.

Exhibitors include Hyosung, Lenzing, Uncaged Innovations, Dimpora, EverDye, Heuritech, CLO Virtual Fashion, and Shima Seiki, among others. In the field of technical textiles, the focus is on PFAS-free membranes, bio-based fibers, and high-performance materials for sportswear, outdoor apparel, and workwear. At the same time, solutions for recycling, eco-design, low-impact dyeing, and enzymatic processes demonstrate how industrial processes can be reimagined.

The conference program is also being expanded. On the two stages—Innovation & Technology and Fashion & Beauty—more than 100 international experts will share insights into technological developments, sustainability, creativity, market shifts, and new consumer needs. Speakers include Francesco Bottigliero of Brunello Cucinelli, designer Alexis Mabille, Victoire Satto of The Good Goods, and Ben Hanson of The Interline. The winners and finalists of the 2026 Première Vision Innovation Award will also present their projects in dedicated pitch sessions.

The trade show is taking on a new strategic dimension through a closer integration of fashion and beauty. In collaboration with Cosmetic Valley, an area bearing the same name is being created for the first time. Laboratories, manufacturers, and beauty specialists will showcase their expertise there, ranging from research and formulation to production, packaging, and brand development. In addition, Kolmar Korea will present a makeup palette and a lipstick in the Prospective Area, both based on the fall/winter 2027/28 color trends. This collaboration combines trend research, color expertise, and cosmetic technology.

In this way, Première Vision is responding to an industry in which innovation has long since ceased to be merely a matter of the product itself. Technology, material development, transparency, sustainability, and cross-industry collaborations are becoming decisive factors for competitiveness. Paris is thus once again becoming a meeting place for companies that not only want to respond to changes in the fashion industry but also actively shape its next stage of development.
