Sophisticated Simplicity

Sophisticated Simplicity
Monochrome looks, subtle power: the Katharina Hovman collection stands for a quiet energy and is a discovery at second glance.

"My blouses are too expensive just for good!" says Katharina Hovman with a wink. "I mean that seriously: they are made for every day." For over three decades, the Hamburg-based brand Katharina Hovman has stood for wearable elegance, pared down, clear and unagitated. The focus is on a fine microfiber taffeta, developed in the northern Italian silk region, with a silky sheen, light weight and absolutely easy care. The yarn-dyed material has it all, revealing depth, luminosity and a modern look in each of the colors specially developed for the collection. "Over the last ten years, this material has become the DNA of my collection," says Katharina Hovman.

Despite this constant, the collection is dynamic. Katharina Hovman loves to explore new shapes in her own studio, with bows and ruffles with torn edges and sophisticated collar solutions. "The challenge is not to become boring. I always find new ways to reinvent the collection in the same material." These are primarily blouses and dresses, followed by coats, padded bomber jackets and jogger-style pants. Particularly for the spring/summer 2026 season: a floral tone-on-tone jacquard in cream white, candy and olive, as well as an amazingly realistic denim look in taffeta.

The fact that fashion works in monochrome in color as well as in clear white or black can be seen, for example, at The Treasury in Vienna, Idea in Erlangen and Ezati in Heidelberg. Sometimes Katharina Hovman hangs in stores alongside Yamamoto, Issey Miyake or Rick Owens, sometimes in a more commercial context, at retail prices between 280 and 800 euros. The palpable passion in the European-made collection is one thing. The other? "I like to exchange ideas, I am present for my customers," says Katharina Hovman. "The fact that I listen carefully makes my collection approachable."
