Sculptors of Shape
To mark its 50th anniversary, the Museo del Tessuto in Prato is celebrating two masters of form.

Until May 3, 2026, the exhibition curated by Olivier Saillard will showcase around 50 models from the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation in Paris as well as original drawings from the Balenciaga Archives. Alaïa revered Balenciaga so much that he acquired original creations by the Spaniard in order to study their construction. But the deeper he looked, the greater his awe became. "He never took them apart," says Carla Sozzani, president of the Alaïa Foundation. "The perfection was untouchable." A silent dialogue between two couturiers, connected by precision, line, and craftsmanship.
