Lu Ren
Less Is More
For Katie Ji, founder and CEO of Lu Ren, fashion has never been just about clothing—it has always been about memories and emotions. She was influenced from an early age by her grandmother, after whom she named her brand. Her grandmother instilled in her self-confidence and the belief that she could make her own dreams come true. To this day, Far Eastern philosophy, a love of detail, and a deep understanding of the emotional significance of clothing are reflected in Lu Ren’s DNA.
In 2013, the Chinese-born designer founded the brand in Seefeld, Bavaria, near Munich, with a clear vision of creating timeless womenswear that conveys tranquility, quality, and durability. “The idea has always been a ‘less is more’ wardrobe: fewer pieces, but higher quality, longevity, and emotional value,” explains Katie Ji. The focus is on the finest natural materials and uncompromising craftsmanship. Only high-quality yarns made from cashmere, silk, linen, hemp, or extra-fine merino wool are used. Particularly defining is the close connection to the Mongolian cashmere tradition. All yarns come directly from Mongolia, the home of the famous cashmere goat. There, Katie Ji collaborates with renowned suppliers who also supply international luxury brands and major fashion houses. A passion for exquisite knitwear runs through every collection. Above all, the signature cashmere-silk and linen-cashmere blends embody the brand’s commitment to combining exceptional comfort with timeless elegance. “Cashmere is delicate yet durable, luxurious yet understated,” says Ji. She defines luxury as something far removed from excess or ostentation: “It’s about quality, authenticity, and the freedom to make conscious choices.” To her, a high-quality cashmere sweater—one that grows more beautiful with age and carries memories—feels far more luxurious than any short-lived trend item.
