First Boutique in Austria
With the opening of its first Austrian boutique in Vienna, Le Labo continues its international retail expansion. The new location blends the brand’s identity with the city’s history—and demonstrates how brick-and-mortar beauty retailers today go beyond the product itself to create experiential spaces.
Le Labo opened its first boutique in Austria at the end of July. With the new store at Tuchlauben 19, the brand—known for its “slow perfumery” philosophy—is bringing its unique retail concept to Vienna for the first time.
The boutique is located in a historic building in Vienna’s 1st district and sees itself as a fusion of architectural heritage and contemporary craftsmanship. The focus is on the careful restoration of the original cross vault, which gives the space its unique character. Elements of Viennese Modernism shape the design, as do a curved lab counter, vintage tables with high-gloss finishes, and materials such as checkerboard and herringbone parquet flooring and marble.
Local roots also play a central role in the store’s concept: a custom-designed Austrian typeface adorns the facade, while specially commissioned artwork and locally produced ceramics highlight the connection to Vienna’s cultural and artisanal traditions.
As in all Le Labo boutiques, the laboratory is at the heart of the shopping experience in Vienna as well. Fragrances are blended on-site, and selected bottles are labeled by hand with the location, date, and a personal message. In this way, the brand embraces a form of beauty retail that emphasizes personalization, craftsmanship, and personal interaction.
